"Market research example" is searched about 590 times a month at difficulty 21 of 100, and what ranks is mostly fill-in-the-blank templates. Below is what an actual measured read produced for a real challenger food brand, market-level, no names. measured

The worked example

The brand's own product phrasings drew 6,950 searches a month combined: honest, and small. The category's biggest adjacent question drew 246,000 searches a month: enormous, and, measured properly, closed (a complete, authority-cited AI answer; we said walk away). The middle was the finding: the brand's winnable occasion territories held 134,200 searches a month: nineteen times its core demand, sitting under phrasings nobody in the category had claimed. The strategy inverted in one read: stop fighting for the name, own the occasions.

What made it research instead of a template

Every number above came from a live pull with a date on it. The closed door was declared closed with evidence, which saved months of effort a template would have cheerfully assigned. That is the whole difference: a template tells you what boxes exist; research tells you which boxes are worth your life.

Method: figures from a full market run (August 2026), anonymized to market level; volumes from DataForSEO Google endpoints; AI answers read twice. Figure registry: /figures/market-research-example.figures.json.
