A useful positioning example shows the decision and the number that forced it, not just the slogan that resulted. Measured example one: a challenger brand held 1% of brand-name demand in its category (about 100 vs 6,600 searches a month), which reframed its problem from persuasion to awareness and changed the plan. Measured example two: a brand's own phrasing drew 6,950 versus 134,200: the demand lived under occasion phrasings nobody had claimed, and the positioning followed the count. 'Product positioning example' is searched 260 times a month in the US. (Nukebook, 2026-08-28.)
The hunger for examples is real and mostly fed with retold textbook cases: "market positioning of starbucks" alone is searched 590 searches a month at difficulty 0. Those cases teach vocabulary; they cannot teach your decision, because their numbers are not yours. The head term "product positioning" draws 1,000 searches a month. measured
How to read any positioning example
Ask three questions of it: what was measured before the decision, what alternative did the number kill, and what would falsify the position later. The famous cases rarely publish any of the three. The examples above publish all three, which is the only reason they are worth your time.
Make your own example
Count your name-demand share, count the demand under every candidate frame, and let the lopsided ratio make the argument. Positioning debates end when a number enters the room; the examples worth studying are the ones that show the number.
